My friend Keith is in charge of taking a dilapidated mansion that was never completely constructed and making it into an office for a major agricultural and social development project that is about to begin in Adamawa State, Nigeria. There is currently no electricity (except by generator) and no running water, so instead of sleeping in one of the bedrooms where it's hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable, he moved one of the beds to the patio where there is small chance of a breeze. For the next few weeks this is his 'bedroom.' He's got a beautiful view and the only thing keeping him up at night is the large bird that has decieded to share Keith's new space. The bird sits on the corner handrail and squaks, chirps, and ruffles with his bird buddies across the way throughout the time humans are supposed to be sleeping. Keith's attempts to scare the bird off have only made for very amusing stories of failure. As if Keith's work days weren't exciting enough...
You see, not only is this house half constructed and absolutely filthy - it's also UGLY, but in a really cool, could work if it was updated kind of way (with a LOT of elbow grease). The two nonfunctional bathrooms shown below take the cake, with their patterns, shades of 70s greens, and want for extravagance. When was the last time you saw anything close to this kind of tacky?
